Account & Data Deletion

This page explains how Yonora users can delete their account and the data connected to it. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

1. Delete your account in the app

Open Yonora.
Tap Settings (gear icon).
Tap Account.
Tap Delete my account.
Confirm your phone number or email and complete any identity-verification step.
Confirm deletion.

Deletion begins immediately after confirmation. You may lose access to messages, media, groups, statuses, linked devices, business tools, call history, and other account data connected to the account.

2. Request deletion by web or email

You can also request deletion without using the app. Visit yonora.net/account-delete if available, or email privacy@yonora.net from the email address on your account with the subject line "Delete my Yonora account." If your account uses a phone number, include the registered phone number. Yonora will verify that the request is really from you before deleting the account.

3. What gets deleted

Profile information, such as name, photo, username, phone number, and email address.
Messages, photos, videos, voice notes, documents, and other media stored for your account.
Status updates and their media.
Call history stored for your account.
Group memberships and linked devices connected to your account.
Push notification tokens, sessions, login information, and optional contacts you saved in Yonora.
Business profile and business content tied to the deleted account, subject to legal, tax, accounting, transaction, and dispute-retention needs.

4. What may remain

Messages or media you sent to other people may remain in their chats, devices, screenshots, downloads, notifications, exports, or backups.
Records Yonora must keep for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, dispute, child-safety, abuse-reporting, or law-enforcement reasons may be retained only as long as needed.
Aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you may remain for service analytics, safety, reporting, and reliability.
Protected backups may keep copies temporarily and are purged or overwritten on the normal backup cycle, usually within 90 days.

5. Timing

Start of deletion	Begins immediately after in-app confirmation or after Yonora verifies a web/email request.
Active systems	Account data and stored account content are deleted from active systems within 30 days, unless limited retention is required by law, safety, security, fraud prevention, or disputes.
Backups	Protected backups may retain copies for up to 90 days before purge or overwrite.
Confirmation	Where practical, Yonora may send confirmation when deletion is completed or request more information if identity verification is needed.

6. Delete some data without deleting your account

Delete a message: long-press the message and choose Delete. Choose Delete for everyone where available.
Clear a chat: open the chat menu and choose Clear chat.
Remove a status update: open your status area and delete the item.
Turn on disappearing messages per chat so new messages auto-delete after the selected timer.
Clear call history where available.
Revoke optional app permissions such as contacts, photos, microphone, camera, and notifications in device settings.

7. Regional privacy deletion rights

Depending on where you live, account deletion may also be a request for erasure, deletion, account closure, withdrawal of consent, or restriction of processing. Yonora will honor applicable local rights after reasonable verification and subject to legal exceptions.

Maryland	Maryland residents may have deletion, access/know, correction, opt-out/limit, appeal, and equal-treatment rights under applicable Maryland privacy law.
United States	U.S. state privacy laws may provide deletion, correction, access, portability, opt-out, appeal, and non-discrimination/equal-treatment rights, subject to exceptions.
EU/EEA, Switzerland, UK	Users may have erasure, objection, restriction, portability, and complaint rights, subject to exceptions and legal bases.
Other global regions	Local laws in Canada, Brazil, India, Australia, Singapore, South Africa, and other countries may require local request handling, verification, retention, and transfer controls.
